OUR STORY
In July 2005, the canonical merger of St. Ann’s and St. Rocco’s Parishes as the Parish of the Transfiguration was approved and plans began to turn St. Rocco’s Church into The New Jersey Center of Divine Mercy. Our celebrations have attracted a variety of parishioners including those from within our local tri-state community as well as many international visitors including the Philippines, Canada, Poland and Puerto Rico. Our Celebrations of Prayer and Healing include annual celebrations for the Feast of Divine Mercy, special Feast Day celebrations, and monthly healing services with internationally known speakers. All of our events include Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, Benediction, a healing service and an opportunity for confession, private prayer and veneration of our First Class Saint Faustina relic and Icon.Paul Miller, OFS and founder of The Healing Ministry of Divine Mercy, celebrates healing with us by providing individual blessings to all in need. Paul also is founder of Franciscan Charities, Inc. which established and supports the St. Ann’s Soup Kitchen and our sister parish and provides for over 80,000 meals annually to those in need.Franciscan Charities, Inc. is the major contributor to our Center and we are grateful for the partnership with Paul. The Center is also home to a First-Class Relic of Saint Faustina. In 2008, an authorized request was sent to Mother Superior of The Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy, Krakow, Poland for a first class relic of Saint Faustina stating that “the relic would be reverenced by literally thousands of people”. With God’s grace, our request was approved and Fr. Seraphim Michalenko, MIC, vice-postulator for Saint Faustina’s cause, agreed to receive the Relic for us in Poland. He presented it to Father Josephat Kalema, OCSO, Pastor at The Center and Paul Miller during a reception at the National Shrine of Divine Mercy. The Relic was received into our Center at a solemn reception on the Feast of All Saints Day, 2008. The Relic is displayed for veneration during all services.
